Chennai, India – A compelling new film, Kannagi Nagar, produced by Dr. Rajeev Madhavan Menon under the banner of Rajeev Menon Studios, is set for a nationwide theatrical release on December 5. The film, distributed by Premaalaya Studios, brings together powerful storytelling, strong performances, and music by industry legend Deva.
Written and directed by Dheena, the film follows the emotional journey of Kutty and Meena, two children left orphaned after the tsunami. When Meena disappears under tragic circumstances, Kutty’s life unravels into confusion and vengeance. With support from a troubled charity founder, Kutty embarks on a violent mission that changes his life forever. His search for Meena later leads him to Thailand, ending in a heartbreaking twist.
Featuring Gautham, Deepa Umapathi, Muthuraj, Bala Singh, and Ko. Raviraj, the film explores themes of survival, trauma, and misguided love. Cinematography by Mohammed Farhan lends realism to the setting, while editors Marish and K. Manikandan craft a gripping flow to the narrative.
Kannagi Nagar was produced on a 3.5-crore budget and has a running time of 1 hour 47 minutes. Director Dheena describes the film as a “mirror to the emotional battles faced by youth in urban communities.”
The film is produced in Tamil, proudly rooted in Indian culture, and presented in full color.
